Shameless Regeneration
All the greenhouse gas reports look like coal
So when a plantman said
Lets set a SBTi goal
We paused the ping pong table meeting
Nature is in a bind
The birds and the bees and the trees
Are finding it hard to breathe
The power of business is bringing them to their knees
Could a pasta sauce cure this carbon boondoggle
Power the soft side mixer with a manure elixir
Run the trucks on sun
It’s SAF to say
There’s megawatts of energy to bottle
Feed the hearts minds and spirits
Of future generations
The Hole in the Wall Gang will stage a celebration
For in 20xx Newman’s Own
Will be a model of shameless regeneration.
Inaugural Impact Report
Rediscovering a favorite activity is both a delight and an exercise in patience. We get a rush of memories when we start something old again. We remember why we love something and all the familiar challenges.
Planting trees with the Venice community started at the most basic of levels. For one, the intention was never to plant trees. The main goal was meeting and visiting with neighbors. The Verdant Venice Group meets every Saturday though. And they plant a lot of trees. And they work with other cool groups in the neighborhood.
My contribution to actual planting was extremely minimal. There is a large existing group that does a great job getting trees in the ground. Everyone takes tons of photos and shares them in group chats and on social media.
This Impact Report does its best to summarize all the work these volunteers do. It provides a sliver of insight into all the Saturdays and all the partnerships. Reach out if you'd like to learn more about the report and the neighborhood.
